Blog Post #24: Strawberries, Contra dancing, and Wonder
My lessons of the week: Strawberries taste 100x better when you eat them straight from the plant whilst strawberry picking with your friend. Summer sun can be very bright, but it’s nothing to be afraid of for the sake of feeling alive. Vermont is a beautiful state. Traveling can help one’s spirit grow a lot in a short amount of time, but so can hosting someone visiting your home. I believe that’s because being with someone for any extended period of time forces you to make compromises sometimes. Like giving up your room for a few days, or going contra dancing even when you didn’t initially want to. Only to realize that contra dancing is actually a lot of fun (pro tip, look directly into your dance partner's eyes, or you will get very dizzy very fast). I don’t know what the overarching idea of this blog post is, but something I do know is that humans are social creatures. We need connection with other human beings. That’s why I was very grateful to my friend Kara for visiting me this week, for re-opening my eyes to the beauty of my home state and for providing me with the type of friendship I hope everyone experiences in this life. And Kara, yes, the trees are tall here in Vermont. Maybe I forgot that because I don’t look up enough, but I think I’m gonna start looking up more. Up at the treetops, and up at the stars at night. It turns out we really are just specks on the earth. Specks on the earth with big emotions and big ideas, and what a wonderful thing.
