Blog Post #14: Mourning Doves, Ravel, and Breakup

I’m not sure what to write about today. I am in the second day of experiencing my first breakup, and all I had the energy for today was walking around my campus (making many stops at the pond to watch the newborn goslings). I did manage to make it off campus for boba with two close friends, but became sad realizing how much my ex and I used to go out for food or boba. On one of my many loops around campus, I heard the internet-famous nostalgic sound of the Mourning Dove. I used to hear that sound all the time as a child, and it wasn’t until this year that I started hearing it again. I believe it’s because I finally learned how to listen. Even through the sound of Ravel’s Violin Sonata No. 2 in G Major in my earbuds, the Mourning Dove sound was so distinctive that I immediately stopped and paused my music to listen. Anyways, that’s all for this week’s blog post. My futile attempts to practice piano today only ended in tears, and I’ve made up my mind to watch a Ghibli movie for the rest of the evening. Goodnight, everyone.
